Workshop and Activity Schedule:
Pre-retreat activities (4 hours of activities to prepare for the weekend, see below)
Friday evening during a shared welcome dinner
Saturday and Sunday from morning until early afternoon
Evenings are unscheduled, giving you the freedom to unwind, explore the coast, or connect with fellow interpreters around the fire. Whether you prefer a quiet night in or an evening stroll by the ocean, your time is yours.
Participants are encouraged to take advantage of their time in Monterey and check-out Monday morning!
Guided by the theme Anchored and Evolving, and include Demand Control Schema as an anchor to some of the workshops. Some DC-S knowledge is recommended, however a "refresher" lesson will be included. The retreat’s sessions will explore:
Adapting your interpreting practice across varied registers and roles
Delivering and receiving feedback through structured, empowering methods
Ethical decision-making in high-pressure scenarios using tested frameworks
Professional supervision as a tool for reflection, resilience, and growth
You’ll engage in individual reflection, partner and group dialogue, and guided supervision practices that center your lived experience as an interpreter. To make the most of our time together, a small amount of prep work will be assigned prior to the weekend.
Please Note:
Participants will be required to complete pre-retreat activities which will include:
1. A review of Demand-Control Schema in preparation for Supervision activities during the retreat weekend.
2. Recorded interpreting samples which will be used in feedback and critique activities during the retreat weekend.
